There is something special about having a sibling when you are a kid, ok when you’re an adult too. When you are a kid having a sibling means there is always someone there for you. There is someone who gets it when you don’t get your parents. There is someone who is often willing to be a partner in crime, especially during the tween and teenage years.
I have an older brother who is about 20 months older than me. He was two years ahead of me in school. He was my protector, my arch enemy and my best friend at varied times in life. When I was looking to leave MA to move I choose FL because he was already living there. We both moved on with life, but I know that if push came to shove he’d be in my corner no matter what. I feel that Richard has a similar relationship with his younger sister.
I had my sons close in age so that Blake never knew a life without Colby. They are best of friends and worst of enemies. One second they are having a blast together and the next they are ready to kill each other. But, they also know that their brother is the one person who will always be by their side. They have stood up for each other. They have protected each other. They are the first one to cheer the other on and pick each other up.
I don’t know how close they will be into adulthood, but I do know that when push comes to shove, they will be there for each other.
